How To Change Gmail Background On Iphone

  • Steps to change Gmail Background in Gmail for PC and mobile
  • You can also enable Dark mode on Gmail
  • Set your custom photo as Gmail Background

One fine day, Google and Gmail came into existence, and users have been hooked ever since. Recently Chrome introduced the dark mode for the mobile and desktop versions. But if you are anything like most Gmail users, you probably find it difficult to go about changing your background, which is currently a dull white & gray canvas.

Luckily, Gmail provides an easy option for all of you to modify your theme or background, allowing you to better your mood, boost your attention, or simply make your online time a lot more fun.

How to change the background in Gmail?

Here is an easy tutorial for you to start changing your Gmail backdrop using Gmail Themes. Pictures have been added with each step for your ease.

  1. Go to Settings

Click on the icon, as depicted below. You can find the same in the top right corner of your Gmail window.

  1. Go to Themes

After you click on Settings, a menu like the one below should be visible. Here, on the extreme right, an option reading "Themes" must be visible. Click on this.

  1. Set Theme

When you click on Themes, a new option opens up below it. The new option reads "Set Theme". Click on the same.

  1. Choose among the themes

When you click on Set Theme, you would have the option "Pick Your Theme" to choose from a set of Google's predesigned themes, or you can choose from your private photos too - it is entirely your discretion.

Many of the images on this page are of natural landscapes (like rivers, plants, skies, animals, etc.). However, you will be able to select basic themes such as a dark theme (which may be easier for your eyes) or a high brightness and/or contrast theme (to help you clearly see things).

  1. Edit your theme

When you select a photo from the list or upload your own, you'll be able to change a few settings regarding the way your photo is presented. Text, Vignette, and Blur choices are available at the bottom of this panel. The Text setting allows you to select a Light or Dark backdrop for the text. The Vignette would give you a scale that ranges for darkening the edges of your backdrop picture. The Blur tool would give you a scale to blur the backdrop picture (which is best suited for a photo with intricate detail).

In the image below, the icons are text, vignette, and blur, respectively.

  1. Save your theme

After you've selected an image or a theme for the backdrop and tweaked the parameters connected with it, click Save. You can find this option as a blue button on the bottom right of your "Pick a theme" window.  Your modifications will be implemented. It is also worth noting that you could always come back to the preset theme if you would like to.

You can follow the same steps to change your background any time again in the future if needed.

Why would anyone want to change the Gmail background?

So now, we assume you know how to edit and modify the backdrop of your Gmail. Now, let's have a look at a few of the reasons why doing so is generally a smart idea.

Usually, people are motivated by one of the following factors:

  • Something unique:  Many people are just ready for a change after having used Gmail for so many years. Having to look at the same backdrop for hours on end every day becomes tiresome, to the point that nearly any image or fresh color seems better.
  • Tone: Some individuals desire a different hue or picture because it offers the ability to enhance or modify their mood. Would you prefer to gaze at a plain white backdrop or a relaxing image of a lovely forest, for instance? How about a family picture to remind you why you have been working so hard?
  • Clarity and eye strain: Staring at a computer monitor for the whole day may be taxing, and if you are not cautious, it can lead to computer vision syndrome or strained vision problems. Furthermore, some users find the preset Gmail theme difficult to read. Changing the backdrop might fix one or both of these issues, thus, making your screen simpler to see and reduce eye strain.

Your e-mail account is most likely not among the most enjoyable stuff to pay heed to. There are, however, methods to liven up your email, one being, by modifying your Gmail background. And besides, a new backdrop can totally transform the appearance of your laptop or phone, then why not your Gmail?

Play with varied backdrops to see just how you react—you might be shocked at the increase of your attention span, productivity, or overall betterment of mood with one backdrop picture versus another.

Benefits of Dark Mode

We've all been there when we are lying on bed in a dark room but the light from the mobile is blinding your eyes. It doesn't make a lot of difference even if your brightness levels are at the lowest settings. Dark Mode definitely fixes this issue. Dark Mode doesn't take the light away entirely but takes it away enough for your to use it effectively while not affecting your eyes. The following are the benefits of dark mode:

  • Exposure to blinding light and blue color results in dry and painful eyes. These lights from the phone suppress the release of melatonin which is an essential hormone required to get you to sleep.
  • Dark Mode looks damn so cool. If you are gadget nerd, you know the hacker feel that it gives you while using it.
  • This is no brainer when I say dark mode saves your battery. in an OLED screen, At 100% screen brightness, the dark interface is saving a whopping 60% of screen energy. Even Apple has promised that it would end the LCD screen and move to entirely OLED screens which means saving more battery power. Both iOS and Android have native dark mode support now, so, you can make good use of it and enjoy the experience.
